During January 2010, all applications will be reviewed by the
scholarship selection committee to select those applicants that
best meet the criteria of the scholarship.
All applicants will be notified of their status during
February. The selected candidates will be invited for an interview
by the selection committee. The interview will include a brief
demonstration of keyboard skills on the organ.
The interviews will be held at South Church, New Britain, CT
on Saturday March 20, 2010. The winners will be selected and
announced the same day. A formal presentation of the scholarship
will be held at the convenience of the winner.
How Winners Are Selected
Musicians interested in this scholarship are invited to submit
an application which asks for the following information:
- Musical qualifications.
- Work experience as a church musician.
- Current and future goals as a church musician.
- How the scholarship will help achieve the
stated goals.
- At least one written reference
Applications and written references will be reviewed by a
selection committee made up of prominent church musicians from the
Hartford, Connecticut area. They will select up to six finalists
who will be invited for an interview, which will include a
demonstration of keyboard skills on the organ. The finalist(s) who
best meet(s) the following criteria will receive a scholarship of
$2500 or a special award of a lesser amount:
- Goals are consistent with the beliefs of the religious
organization that they serve or plan to serve.
- The plan of study is consistent with the goals
- Keyboard skills are adequate to achieve their goals
